Sports in Närpes

The town of Närpes wants to create good conditions for its inhabitants to carry out qualitative and diverse sporting activities by:

• offering sports facilities for different needs

• supporting sports clubs by granting annual subsidies for activities, projects and maintenance

• arranging physical exercise campaigns, supporting swimming school activities and cooperating with interest groups in arranging sports and exercise for special groups.

Physical exercise is becoming more and more important in preventive health care. The  sports and outdoor activities arranged by the Leisure board focus on this. Through physical exercise campaigns, information and activities we want to achieve our target: healthier inhabitants with the help of exercise.

For the people of Närpes, who live in a widely-spread area it is important to have sports facilities that make sports activities possible within a reasonable distance.

Sports facilities
The town of Närpes offers first class sports facilities. There are more than 80 sports arenas, fields etc. that cater for both competitive sports and exercise.

Mosedal
In Mosedal there is a sports field for football and athletics, a grandstand with a shooting gallery, an icehockey hall, an outdoor icehockey rink, basketball court and the latest addition, Närpes sports hall opened in late 2008.
