E-books and audiobooks
The library users can download e-books on their own computers. This requires an Internet- extension, a program that you can download free-of-charge, a library card and a PIN-code. The requirements are the same for listening to audiobooks.

Library card
A library card is personal and must always be shown when borrowing books in all libraries in Närpes. People under the age of 15 must have a parent’s or guardian’s signature on the library application form in order to receive a library card. The parent or guardian is also responsible for the loans made with the card. A library card is not given to children under 7 years. If a library card is lost the library must always be informed. After reporting the loss the card holder is no longer responsible for possible misuse. A new library card may be obtained by paying a fee. Changes of name and adress must always be reported to the library.

Loan period
The normal loan period is 4 weeks, for DVD and video only 1 week. Datero programs and course books on demand are lent for 2 weeks. The expiry date of the loan is always indicated on the receipt given at the time of the loan. Books and other material which have not been reserved can be borrowed again, also by phone and e-mail. Renewal of books and reservation by Internet requires a library card and a PIN-code. Material on loan can be returned to any library in the municipality. The late fee is 2.00 € for each reminder sent out. People who have not returned their loans after 3 reminders lose their borrowing rights until the material has been returned and all the fees have been paid. Damaged or lost material must be compensated according to purchase value.

Books which are not available at the town library can be borrowed as distance loans from another library. The minimum fee for a distance loan is 3.00 €.
